Pregnancy & Postpartum Services

Feeling empowered during your pregnancy and postpartum leads to a better experience.

Here at Embody Wellness, I am committed to supporting individuals and their birth partner throughout their pregnancy whether it is for pelvic pain/pressure and/or preparing for an informed birth experience.

I offer an extensive birth prep program with the goal of providing evidence based guidance including perineal massage techniques, “how to” push, as well as proper breathing techniques while connecting with the pelvic floor musculature. My goal is to empower and support the birthing person with informed and educated decision making during this time.

In order to optimize postpartum care for the birth person and baby, The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommend all postpartum people have a pelvic floor physical therapist be a part of their support team. The first 12 weeks postpartum (called the 4th trimester), I offer support from near or far by connecting with patients during those first few weeks which can be very challenging and overwhelming. I find that the six-week all clear from the OBGYN is not the finish line for healing, but instead the starting point.

Programs we offer during pregnancy include:

1) Our EASE Coaching Program

2) The Empowered Birth Course

3) One-on-one Virtual and In-person* Pelvic Health Therapy sessions

* In-person currently only for the South Bay, Los Angeles area.

  • Preparing the pelvic floor muscles for birth

  • Safe exercise for pregnancy and/or appropriate modifications for staying active

  • Connecting with the breath and core for birth

  • Support for pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms (ie. bladder incontinence, pelvic pain, diastasis recti)

  • Orthopedic concerns including hip/back pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and pubic bone pain

We support our postpartum moms with:

  • Safe return to exercise and movement strategies (the 6 week all clear isn’t the answer!)

  • Education as to what may be ‘normal’ postpartum, as well as signs & symptoms to look out for and knowing when to slow down

  • Diastasis recti assessments as well as how to modify exercise to assist with the healing process

  • Regulating the bowels and retraining bladder habits to get those organs and brain talking and coordinating again

  • Pelvic floor muscle assessments including core strengthening and breathing retraining.

  • Pain management strategies including scar mobilizations, relaxation techniques, massage therapy, etc.

  • Full body strengthening to keep up with the needs of caring (feeding, holding, etc) for an infant
